The medals are in very nice condition with period ribbons. Naming around the side...40906 PTE S.O.MORTEN S.WALES BORD. The death plaque has been once mounted, hole in the top, and lovingly polished over the years by a family member. Mounted as worn by the veteran with the both the War medal and ASM name stamped. Details running around the rim, N56411 M. NGEMA, as found on medals awarded to Indian and Malay Corps. Please note that the ASM ribbon is fraying around the medal bar. read more
WW1 Casualty Silver War Medal. 2nd Lieutenant H.M.Owen. 9th Batt/ Cheshire Regiment.
Herbert Morris Owen was born at Oswestry in 1897 enlisting in the Gloucester Hussars in 1916. Commissioned into the 9th Bn Cheshire Regiment in 1917. Owen died of wounds on the 25th of March 1918 a couple of days after seeing action during Operation Michael, Kaiser Offensive. His brother was also an officer being killed in 1917.
