Period Photos of King George and Queen Elizabeth Visit to the Orb Iron Works Newport, 1944.
These 14 period photos recently turned up from a house clearance firm who have the contract with the family of P.R.Perry who in 1944 was the Assistant General Manager of the Orb Steel Works in Newport, South Wales who produced 20mm cartridge cases. WW1 British Dog Tags, Coins and Pocket Knife.
Another one of my ''box'' finds and to tell the truth i cannot remember how long ive had this set, its easy to see i love untouched items no matter what they might be. Anyway we have here a little leather purse that i found with a soldiers dog tags, two 1914 dated pennies and a rather small pocket knife. A very nice set that once belonged to a private F.C.Bond who definitely served in the east as the fantastic wrist ID bracelet, hand etched in Mosul,is made from a 1918 dated Rupee. Dinner Gong with Royal Artillery Striker.
Ok so this is an unusual item for sure and came to me this weekend from a friend who does local house clearances in the Cardiff area. When he gave me a shout i must admit i did tell him what in the world would i do with a vintage dinner gong but then he showed me the striker!! This is the 1939 printed edition translated by James Murphy and printed by Hurst and Blackett Ltd. Book is complete with foxing to the first number of pages and slight damage to the inner spine.
