WW1 Imperial German Iron Cross 2nd Class. MM/S?.
The two piece frame is tight and taken on a heavy, black in places, tone from patina. The iron centre has over 95% of it's black factory finish. This is a ring stamp but hard to make out, it might well be the top half of the letter "S". Ribbon is a replacement.
