6th Battalion South Wales Borderers Death Plaque and Medal Pair. Died 1918 POW.
The medals are in very nice condition with period ribbons. Naming around the side...40906 PTE S.O.MORTEN S.WALES BORD. The death plaque has been once mounted, hole in the top, and lovingly polished over the years by a family member. This set comes with lots of copY paperwork related to Morten who was most probably captured during the March Offensive in 1918. He subsequently died of wounds in a German POW military hospital, 14/9/1918 and was buried in Rethel Cemetery. Some of the documents are German showing Morten as a POW. These medals where given over to the previous collector by an elderly lady, relative of Morten, who lived near Velindre , South Wales. These notes can be found written on some of the paperwork.
