Rare Pre WW1 IJA Type 30/38 Rifle Rear Ammo Pouch.

This example would seem to date too pre WW1 with no front fixing loop, small oil bottle cradle to the side and a central divider that in 1904 had a small notch cut out against the area of the back stud crimping point. The stud is the earlier type with sharp point that was again changed after 1910! As for condition with its age its well used with only slight surface crazing to the top flap, all stitching is tight, oil cradle again with tight stitching, supple leather ,slight damage to the middle strap. When i first photographed the inside one can see a thin strip of tin along the bottom with central divider gone. On closer inspection i decided to remove the tin and found the central divider laying underneath. This tin has been part of this pouch for many years hiding the leather divider with notch cut out. So im offering not only what i first thought was a scarce rear ammo pouch but turns out to be a very rare early example dating from at least a few years before WW1!
