Scarce Early Matching 1939 Dated British MKII Steel Helmet
A super condition 1939 dated ''Tommy'' helmet with that lovely Pre-War Dunkirk brown painted finish that i would rate at being close to 100% complete with some minor loss in certain areas, some surface scuffs and no dents, inside finish i would rate at even better. Top nut is its period example and shows no evidence of being tampered with. Shell is stamped to the inside lip with the makers F&L with a clear 1/1939 date and the owner has added his initials J.T.D. The early donut top padded liner is again in very nice supple condition and is also dated 1939. This liner in my opinion is its period factory example and both liner and helmet are ''as is'' since leaving the factory. I found the clean chinstrap hooked over the front edge and have not attempted to remove it folks. These untouched helmets as used by the BEF in France before Dunkirk do not turn up that often in this condition!
