B2 Third Pattern F-S Commando Dagger, Heavy Blade, Mid War.
The blade has most of its period finish intact with a mixture of spotting and larger areas of hard pitting from the damp that i presume was in the scabbard, please check the damage to the scabbard leather around the metal chape. Dagger has been dropped once as evident by a slight bend to the tip point, its not snapped off so im sure this can be remedied, not sure you will see this in the photos! The blade is the heavy type produced mid war when the top had to be hand ground when fitting the cross guard, check the distinctive ''V'' grind to the top of the blade spine. Cross guard again with all its period finish with the slightest of surface spotting and a clear ''B2'' and Broad Arrow stamp. The cast zinc alloy grip with 27 rings has no zinc pest damage and a good amount of its dark finish remaining inside the rings over the copper coating base, top has a mold number ''1''. Top pommel nut has not been tampered with and is in the same condition as when it left the factory. The period scabbard has seen better days with its top missing and one tip section missing from a wing on the back. The brass chape is still secured to the leather with its staple but due to moisture and bad storage there is a good amount of damage. Chape still holding on by a good amount of leather and will not drop off thats for sure unless you force it. So in my opinion we have a nice untouched example thats been sitting about for a number of years.
