Zeiss ''blc'' 7x50 U Boat Binoculars.
A pair of German WW2 U Boat binoculars by the firm Zeiss with serial number, looks like..55345 or 53345, i should think dating them from 43 to 45. The body has been striped of its finish, some spots of the green finish remains with a nice amount of lime type green to the front objective lens area. The grinding seen to both sides is period done at the factory as green finish can be found amongst the grind marks. Rubber armour to the objective lenses has gone with the armour to the prisms with eye lens covers remain. The top rubber armour has some cracking along the edge especially to the area on the side where over the years collectors have gone looking for the stamps. Eye lens covers do move a tad and are loose enough but i will not force them open in case i damage them. I would say that the optics are free from damage but can see what might be a slight chip or mark, cannot make out which, on one lens and a small dot on the other side. The lenses are free from any clouding or hazing and no growth. Optically i would rate the vision has very sharp.
Overall, a very good example and worthy of the work needed for restoration.
Folks im not an optics guy so if you have any questions them please ask as i have described the vision i can see through the lenses as best i can. E-mails please to.. ptdavies911@yahoo.co.uk
