Desert Rat Sketch Book. Clifford Saber.

First Edition Hard back book printed in 1959 by Sketchbook Press, New York. This 187 page book printed on high quality paper is in very nice clean condition. Inside will be found 139 illustrations done by American Field Service serviceman Clifford Saber during his service in North Africa with the Desert Rats from 1942 until May 1943 when Saber received a serious head wound. I must admit i had never heard of the AFS first aid ambulances during this time in North Africa but i do now after going through this book. The sketches carry some great detail and as expected when done in the field capture the time just perfectly. The photos ive added from the book do not do this book justice but will give you a taste. Book not only have his sketches but the full story of Sabers time in his own hand.The outer cover has some issues with a split seam along the top, glue would work perfectly, and some minor foxing to the back, soft damp sponge should help. You will not be disappointed going through this book!
