Early DDR M56 Helmet and Strichtarn Cover. 1959 Dated.

An early example, dated 59, with its early chinstrap system without the leather cheek protectors and early liner. This example was found with its camo cover attached and from the condition of both helmet and cover this set has been together for many years. I have not tried to lift the cover completely off, just around the sides to show you the finish of the helmet underneath. From what i can see the finish to the helmet shell is over 90% complete with a minor spotting of rust from the cover, cover is complete but dirty. I can feel underneath the cover the three rivets as found on these early M56 helmets. The inside liner system again in used condition with verdigris build up from storage. Liner is complete with its chord but a bit stiff, chinstrap system complete . The inside of the shell has most of its finish and a paper label with owners name. The side of the shell is stamped with the Roman numeral code II over 9 over the date stamp 59. Not a mint example but one that's in untouched condition.
